Our emotional states are constantly changing.

No matter how grounded and steady you are in your relationships, life, and work, there is one factor that is almost completely out of our control - the cycles of earth. Throughout the year, as weather patterns change and daylight hours shift, we can feel the internal impact on our minds and bodies.

Here’s why…

As the days get colder, our bodies start producing more melatonin, which might cause you to feel more sluggish. Melatonin is produced in the brain with the help of serotonin (the happy chemical), so as your melatonin levels are
increasing, it means that your serotonin levels are decreasing (Psychology Today, 2010).

In addition, shorter days means lower UV levels from the sun. For many of us, this plus colder temperatures means that we’re spending less time in the direct sun, so our vitamin D levels will drop, causing lower energy levels and increased fatigue (Linus Pauling Institute, 2016).

Add the overwhelm of the holiday season on top of this, and our mental and emotional states are often taken for a rollercoaster ride.

For many of us, this transition is a challenging one, so we’ve put together a guide to support you, complete with recipes to brighten your days!

Feeling blue?

For mood lifting support, try our Peppermint Mocha recipe. Mocha provides grounded, uplifting energy and a mood boost from regeneratively grown cacao. Add peppermint crumbles (or a pure extract!) on top to bring extra cheer :)

Feeling burnt out?

For an extra boost of focus and inspiration, make our Butterfly Pea Flower Matcha Latte. The vibrant indigo hue of butterfly pea flower is guaranteed to serve as uplifting inspiration, and our matcha blend provides grounded energy to come back to center and find the motivation you need.

Feeling fatigued?

If it feels next to impossible to get out of bed in the mornings, try our Blueberry Coffee recipe for an energy boost. Our coffee blend is full of grounding adaptogens and sustained energy, to ground you and lift your spirits. Paired with bright blueberry, it’s a perfect pick-me up for a gray morning!

Feeling stressed or anxious?

If you feel like you’re running on overdrive and are craving a sense of calm, whip up our Sleeptime Affogato recipe. Deep sleep is extra soothing for stress, and the calming herbs in this blend (passionflower, valerian and hops) are a powerful addition to your evening wind down ritual.
